چکیده
Considering the importance of cutaneous tissue investigation and need for development new protocols to non-invasively establish safety efficacy dermocosmetics topical products, we aimed at developing an HPLC-TBARS-EVSC (high performance liquid chromatography–thiobarbituric acid reactive species–ex vivo stratum corneum) assay lipid peroxidation measurement on subjects’ corneum (SC) obtained by tape stripping; additionally, applied in emulsified sunscreen system containing ethylhexyl triazone bemotrizinol as UV filters. HPLC analysis was performed isocratic mode with 35% methanol/65% phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) mobile phase. The diode detector set 532 nm quantify malondialdehyde (MDA)-TBA adduct. An ex stripping method 10 volunteers three pre-defined regions volar forearms: control; irradiated; site (2.0 mg·cm?2). Ten adhesive tapes per region were used SC removal. exclusive protocol measure preliminarily developed linearity selectivity. suggested use artificial irradiation dose (5506 KJ·m?2) improve response from SC. had a significative decrease lipoperoxidative damage compared control. Our can aid establishment anti-UV antioxidant agents, instance, studies that aim elucidating level even carrying out baseline investigations characterizing different ethnicities genders.

Skin diseases associated with the depletion of stratum corneum lipids and stratum corneum lipid substitution therapy.
The skin is the largest organ of the body, whose main function is to protect the body against the loss of physiologically important components as well as harmful environmental insults. From the inside to the outside, the skin comprises three major structural layers: the hypodermis, the dermis and the epidermis. The epidermis contains four different sublayers, the stratum corneum (SC), stratum g...
متن کاملSkin barrier function and stratum corneum hydration
Under normal circumstances, epidermis must be as impermeable as possible except for a small amount of water loss to hydrate the outer layers of the SC. Although all living cells require water to function, some “dead” cells also require water to be metabolically active. As it is the case of corneocytes, epidermis must retain sufficient water to (a) hydrate the outer layers of the SC to maintain ...

A new method for measuring stratum corneum hydration in-vivo, using opto-thermal transient emission radiometry with 2.94pm Er:YAG excitation and wavelength selective detection, is described. Results on skin recovery following exogenous hydration, skin stripping with Sellotape and wound healing are presented.

Ever since Ervin Blank discovered1 the importance of moisturizing the stratum corneum, companies have focused their attention on developing a better surface barrier or improving skin surface moisturization in the outer layers of the stratum corneum. More recently, agents such as peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) ligands have been developed and exploited in moisturizers. These a...
